DSN 100: Important Information

It’s January 2012, which means that here at DSN we begin our task of compiling the Global 100 list, based on revenue generated by our industry’s top companies during 2011. This will be our third year of researching and compiling this list. Your feedback has told us the Global 100 is inspiring, motivating and very helpful in educating the general public about our tremendous industry.
We continue to take on this herculean task because we are proud of direct selling and want others outside of it—the private equity investors, academics, consumer advocates and even regulatory personnel—to know about the remarkable companies that are bringing incredible opportunities to millions of people across the globe.
DSN has been asked many times where we get our data to generate this list. We compile data from a variety of sources, including financial sources, professional researchers, personal interviews, media articles, quotes by company executives, corporate websites, annual reports and other industry sources, including self-reported data from company CEOs and CFOs. We encourage every company to participate in the most transparent way; by doing so, we all uplift the industry and its reputation.
“Transparency is a critical component to the greater understanding and acceptance of direct selling as a way of doing business.” —John Fleming, Publisher and Editor in Chief of Direct Selling News
We’ll send out more information next month on how to utilize the online submission form that we are developing just for this purpose. However, our list is not an opt-in/opt-out opportunity. Our objective is to gather data and create a comprehensive list that accurately reflects the top 100 revenue-generating companies in the direct selling industry.
We here at DSN are excited about the feedback that more companies are interested in participating this year, and about our list being an encouraging and motivating factor for many management teams.
Though we acknowledge the challenges of compiling this list, we choose to continue this effort to help the general public understand the full impact and lasting potential of our great industry to help mitigate economic problems as well as bring about positive change on an individual level. We also support the strategies implemented by many to improve understanding of who we are and what we do as an industry.
Online submission form available February 1st.
