Avon Named a Top Global Brand

Avon was named one of the Best Global Brands for 2013 as part of the BrandFinance® Global 500. It ranked at No. 216.

The BrandFinance® Global 500 analyzes the performance of leading brands across all major business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) sectors, to produce a list of the world’s top 500 most valuable brands.

Founded in 1996 and headquartered in London, Brand Finance plc is a brand valuation consultancy that advises strongly branded organizations on maximizing their brand value through effective management of their brands and intangible assets.

Avon, the company for women, is a leading global beauty company, with over $11 billion in annual revenue. Avon markets to women in more than 100 countries through over 6 million active independent Avon sales representatives.

Natura Ranks as a Top Sustainable Corporation

Natura Cosmeticos has ranked 2nd in the Global 100 list of Most Sustainable Corporations in the World, an annual project initiated by Corporate Knights, a Toronto-based media and investment research company. The honorees were recently announced at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Launched in 2005, the Global 100 consists of the 100 top-performing stocks worldwide on a range of sector-specific “sustainability” metrics. In aggregate, the Global 100 had revenues of US$3 trillion (roughly 4.5 percent of global GDP) and a workforce of nearly 5.3 million in 2011.

The purpose of the Global 100 is “to reinforce, raise awareness and highlight, annually, the world’s leaders in clean capitalism, laying out in one clear page the global firms most willing and able to deal with the key social and environmental factors they face in their everyday operations.”

Natura, founded in 1969 and based in São Paulo, Brazil, is a direct sales company in the cosmetics, personal hygiene and perfumery sector, committed to the quality of relationships, innovation and constant improvements of its products and services based on a sustainable development model of business.

Initials Inc. Founders Named Outstanding Georgia Citizens

Britney Vickery and Ivy Hall, Co-Founders of Initials Inc., were honored with the Outstanding Georgia Citizen Awards during their recent Leader Day at the State Capitol.

Secretary of State Brian Kemp presented the awards with District 10 State Representative Terry Rogers and District 28 State Representative Dan Gasaway in attendance. Sisters Vickery and Hall co-founded Initials Inc. in 2005, having recently celebrated eight years in business.

Leader Day at the Capitol was part of the company’s Annual Leadership Retreat held in Atlanta, with over 65 independent creative leaders and directors from all over the country participating.

With a core philosophy of “There’s only one you!” Initials Inc. is a direct seller of personalized handbags and accessories offered through home parties.

It Works! Global Breaks Ground on New Headquarters

It Works! Global, home of the It Works! Wrap, broke ground on its new 36,000-square-foot corporate headquarters in Palmetto, Fla.

Having outgrown its current office space in less than two years, the purchase of the new building will fulfill the company’s need for space to accommodate its growing corporate team and entertainment needs for their community of more than 50,000 independent distributors.

According to CEO and Founder Mark Pentecost, plans are for the innovative office space to allow employees, distributors and guests alike to enjoy the company’s youthful and energetic corporate culture with a waterfront location that will exemplify its motto that they are “more Jimmy Buffett than Warren Buffett!”

It Works! is projected to open the doors of the new headquarters this fall.

AdvoCare Supports Care of Critically Injured Children

AdvoCare International LP, a health and wellness company, announced it will donate to the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma based on the performance of Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Austin Dillon, pilot of the No. 3 AdvoCare Chevrolet. The Childress Institute invests resources in research, education and awareness to improve the treatment for critically injured children in the United States.

AdvoCare is pledging $5,000 for every win, $2,000 for every top five finish and $1,000 for every top 10 finish Dillon has throughout the 2013 Nationwide Series. A check for the total donation will be presented to RCR team owner and Childress Institute Co-Founder Richard Childress during the AdvoCare 500 NASCAR Sprint™ Cup Series Race on Nov. 10 at Phoenix International Raceway.

Race fans can visit Dillon’s website,, to follow his progress and AdvoCare’s commitment throughout the year as well as help save the lives of injured children by making their own contribution to the Childress Institute.

In other news, Shreveport, La.’s post-season college football game, the 11th oldest college bowl game, will now be called the AdvoCare V100™ Bowl. AdvoCare, along with The Independence Bowl Foundation, announced that for the fifth-consecutive year AdvoCare will be the title sponsor of the game.

For 20 years, AdvoCare has offered general nutrition, weight loss, energy and sports performance products. AdvoCare is headquartered in Plano, Texas.

Lindt USA Partners with Autism Speaks

Premium Swiss chocolatier Lindt USA launched the fifth year of its partnership with Autism Speaks in an effort to raise funds and awareness for the cause. With a commitment to donate more than $115,000 to Autism Speaks during the 2013 Easter season, Lindt continued its support of the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization.

To coincide with the arrival of the 2013 Lindt Easter collection at retailers nationwide, Lindt kicked off a 10 cent donation for every purchase of its iconic Lindt GOLD BUNNY, a Pinterest campaign, and activities in Lindt Chocolate Shops. To generate further awareness and donations, Lindt again hosted the Lindt GOLD BUNNY Celebrity Auction with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting Autism Speaks. Also on March 5 and 6, 5 percent of sales from Lindt Chocolate RSVP in-home chocolate parties across the country were donated to the organization.

Hy Cite Completes Recapitalization Deal

Palladium Equity Partners LLC (together with its affiliates), a private investment firm focused on investments in the U.S. Hispanic marketplace, announced that it has completed a recapitalization of Hy Cite Enterprises LLC in partnership with Hy Cite’s founding family and management team. The terms of the investment were not disclosed.

With more than 50 years of operating history, Hy Cite is a direct selling and consumer finance company focused primarily on the Hispanic market in the United States and Mexico. Hy Cite offers an extensive line of cookware and household products, including home cookware systems, air purification and water filtration systems, juice extraction systems, dinnerware and cutlery.

Hy Cite will continue to be led by members of its founding family, Erik Johnson, Chairman and CEO, and Peter Johnson Jr., Chief Operating Officer, as well as by its current management team. David Perez and Luis Zaldivar of Palladium will join Hy Cite’s board of directors.

McColl Partners served as Hy Cite’s financial advisor. Greenberg Traurig was Palladium’s legal advisor on the transaction.

Medifast Boosts Mobile App and Website

Medifast Inc., a manufacturer and provider of clinically proven, portion-controlled weight-loss products and programs, announced the launch of its upgraded mobile application and website enhancements to elevate the Medifast user experience.

The new mobile app enables Medifast and Take Shape For Life clients and members to track their progress on the program remotely and is completely integrated with the support websites, allowing all updates to be reflected on both platforms instantaneously. and both offer a new fresh design, latest technology for tracking the Medifast plan, and an interactive social community page that facilitates sharing success stories via Facebook and Twitter. Additional functions in the future will include a robust recipe section where members can search and submit recipes.

Founded in 1980 and located in Owings Mills, Md., Medifast sells its products and programs via four unique distribution channels: the Web and national call centers; the Take Shape For Life personal coaching division; Medifast Weight Control Centers; and a national network of physicians.

Melaleuca Announces $1.13 Billion in Sales for 2012

Melaleuca recently announced that its worldwide sales for 2012 were up 9.2 percent, amounting to $1.13 billion, according to the Idaho Falls Post Register. The bulk of that growth occurred in the United States and Canada, although the Idaho Falls, Idaho-based company has representatives selling household, health and wellness products in 16 countries.

Melaleuca also announced it was building a new headquarters south of Idaho Falls, with a cost estimated at $60 million, according to CEO and President Frank VanderSloot.

Founded in 1985, Melaleuca sells more than 350 products, including personal-care, cosmetics, household cleaning supplies and vitamins to consumers through a network of sales representatives, catalogs and websites.

Stemtech Expands to Thailand

Stemtech International Inc. announced the opening of a new international market for the company’s stem cell nutrition products and network marketing opportunity.

In a celebration of the opening of Stemtech Thailand that coincided with the global company’s Annual Asia-Pacific Rim Regional Convention in Bangkok, Stemtech’s Co-Founder, President and CEO Ray C. Carter Jr. led the ribbon-cutting. Carter was joined for this special ceremony by Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer Christian Drapeau, Stemtech’s Senior Vice Presidents Andy Goodwin and Jonathan Lester, Vice President of Asian Markets Jonathan Lim, and General Manager of the Thailand operation Ott Thaosthien, as well as top field leaders.
