Amway North America No. 1 in Online Health & Beauty Sales
Amway independent business owners (IBOs) have earned the company the top spot in online Health & Beauty sales.
According to the annual Top 500 Guide to the Web by Internet Retailer, a monthly national business magazine, the IBO activity resulted in Amway ranking first in the Health & Beauty category for the eighth consecutive year, and 28th in overall Web sales.
Amway North America is part of the Amway family, a worldwide leader in direct selling, with more than 3 million IBOs in more than 80 countries and territories. Amway North America’s Top 500 Guide ranking is based on estimates made by Internet Retailer, since Amway does not report sales by individual market. Enterprise-wide sales for Amway North America’s parent company, Alticor, were $9.2 billion in fiscal 2010.
WFDSA Partners with IU Kelley School to Help Malaysian Women
The Institute for International Business (IIB) at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business is helping women in developing countries become more self-sufficient and care for the financial needs of their families.
Beginning with Malaysia, IIB is partnering with the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations on a philanthropic project that will teach women how to start and sustain their own micro ventures.
Within the next few years, the project will be expanded to other APEC economies such as Peru, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and, eventually, other parts of the world. Topics covered during the course include how to establish new businesses, how to decide what products to sell and how to locate financial backing. The women also will learn about managing personnel, basic bookkeeping, networking and dealing with government regulations and taxes.
Avon Honored at Annual Cause Marketing Forum
Avon was recently honored with a Halo Award at the annual Cause Marketing Forum Conference in Chicago. The award recognized the Avon Hello Green Tomorrow program, a global fundraising and mobilization program focused on helping end deforestation.
Hello Green Tomorrow leverages Avon’s ability to educate and engage people worldwide, driving fundraising and mobilization to help end deforestation through Avon’s global network. The program launched in March 2010 in over 50 countries, and its inaugural year generated more than $2 million that was awarded to The Nature Conservancy to help restore the Atlantic rain forest in South America. In addition to raising funds, the Hello Green Tomorrow global educational message focused on “five simple things” to drive behavior change—reduce, reuse, recycle, rethink and replant.
Rodan + Fields Holds Benefit Concert for Tornado Victims
Award-winning singers and songwriters—including Jim Parker, Wood Newton, Donny Lowry and Mark Narmore—recently performed at the “Rodan + Fields Songs for Survivors” concert to benefit the survivors of the April tornadoes in the Southeast. The concert took place at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala. The Salvation Army’s Disaster Relief Fund One will receive 100 percent of the proceeds, which will be specially earmarked for April 27 tornado victims.

MonaVie Raises $1.5 Million for The MORE Project
During MonaVie’s International Convention, attended by nearly 6,000 distributors in Salt Lake City in June, the company announced a goal to raise $1 million for its nonprofit foundation The MORE Project. But by the end of the event, among its other successes, the company had exceeded that and raised more than $1.5 million.
The MORE Project was established in 2005 as a way to give back to Brazil, a country that had given MonaVie and its distributors the nutritious açai berry featured in many of its products. Funded through the monthly donations of MonaVie distributors, The MORE Project is empowering thousands of Brazil’s most impoverished individuals and families by providing critical resources such as nutritious food, urgent medical care, safe shelter and ongoing educational opportunities for children, youth and adults.
The presentation detailed some of the project’s recent accomplishments, including the construction of MonaVie Village, a sanctuary for at-risk children. The village features programs to help children and adults with skill and vocational training.
XANGO Opens New Office in Mexico City
XANGO company executives and founders joined with hundreds of distributor leaders in Mexico to celebrate the opening of a new state-of-the art office in Mexico City. Mexico is among the five largest markets worldwide for XANGO and a key hub for the company’s future expansion into other countries in Latin America.
The 3,000-square-foot office is located in Mexico City’s business district. With two-thirds of the office dedicated to distributor use, the space features several meeting areas, including a multimedia room that can seat 120 participants.
XANGO remains committed to the children of Mexico through its partnership with Operation Smile. Since 2008, XANGO has donated more than $500,000 to support cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries. Distributor volunteers and company executives have supported more than 600 surgeries to help children in need in Mexico.
Phototron Holdings Launches GrowLife Inc.
Phototron Holdings Inc., the designer, manufacturer and seller of the PHOTOTRON Hydroponic Indoor Grow Systems, announced the launch of its wholly owned direct selling hydroponic gardening subsidiary, GrowLife Inc.
GrowLife leverages Phototron Holdings’ experience in hydroponics while marketing indoor and outdoor gardening products through direct selling. Ampegy Expands into Michigan
Ampegy announced the expansion of its operations into Michigan. The company’s newest market opening will play a crucial role in the future growth of deregulated electricity sales, as it plans to quickly expand its reach to more markets in the coming months. Ampegy is focused on selling electricity and natural gas products, provided by Spark Energy, to residential customers.

Rita Davenport Joins SUCCESS Media
Rita Davenport, former President of Arbonne International, has joined SUCCESS Media as part of its author/ speaker lineup.
Davenport is a charter member of the National Speakers Association (NSA) and has received both the Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) and Council of Peers Award of Excellence (CPAE) designations from the NSA. USANA to Expand into Thailand
USANA Health Sciences Inc. has announced plans to expand into Thailand in the fourth quarter of this year. This will be USANA’s 16th market in which independent distributors sell USANA’s high-quality, science-based products.
According to the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations, Thailand is the world’s 13th-largest country in terms of retail U.S. dollars generated from direct selling, and Asia’s fifth-largest market for direct selling, with estimated sales of more than $1.5 billion. USANA’s entry into Thailand will serve as an important next step in the company’s plan for international growth.
