Herbalife’s Distributors Get over $50 Million Bonus

At its annual bonus awards gala, Herbalife Ltd. distributed $52.3 million to Herbalife independent distributors who have achieved success by helping to bring good nutrition to people around the world.

The recipients were among approximately 3,500 independent distributors from more than 60 countries who gathered in downtown Los Angeles for several days of education, training and celebration.

The Herbalife Family Foundation, a nonprofit that helps to provide good nutrition to vulnerable children, also presented its annual Humanitarian Award to Carmen Gloria Schindler of Chile. This award is presented to an Herbalife independent distributor who exemplifies the foundation’s mission, and through their outstanding involvement and dedication, has made a significant contribution to changing lives worldwide. As recipients of the 2012 HFF Humanitarian Award, HFF will donate $10,000 to a charity of their choice.

Other highlights of the event included a private concert featuring the legendary Diana Ross, along with the international girl group sensation Blush, at the Nokia Theater, benefiting the Herbalife Family Foundation.

Natura Named One of Most Ethical Companies for 2012

Natura, a Brazilian cosmetics giant, was recently named one of the most ethical companies in the world for 2012.

A total of 145 companies from more than three dozen industries made this year’s World’s Most Ethical (WME) Companies list, as selected by the Ethisphere® Institute, an international think tank dedicated to the creation, advancement and sharing of best practices in business ethics, corporate social responsibility, anti-corruption and sustainability.

Natura, which recorded $3 billion in revenue in 2010, was joined in the WME Health & Beauty category by L’Oréal of France and the Shiseido Company of Japan.

The WME Companies designation recognizes companies that go beyond making statements about doing business “ethically” and translate those words into action. WME honorees not only promote ethical business standards and practices internally, they exceed legal compliance minimums and shape future industry standards by introducing best practices today.


DSA to Induct Dick and Doug DeVos into Hall of Fame

The Direct Selling Association (DSA) announced that it will bestow the industry’s highest honor—induction into the Hall of Fame—to Dick and Doug DeVos of Amway Corp.

This is the first time in the history of the DSA that Hall of Fame recipients have been announced prior to the Awards Gala. The DeVos brothers, sons of Amway Co-Founder Richard DeVos, are being recognized for their support and leadership of the DSA, the Direct Selling Education Foundation (DSEF) and the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations (WFDSA). In making the announcement, the DSA stated that “the DeVos brothers have demonstrated their commitment not only to millions of Amway Independent Business Owners, but also to the future of the entire sales channel in the U.S. and around the world.”

Both Dick and Doug DeVos have served as Chairman of the DSA Board of Directors. Doug DeVos has served as DSEF Chairman—and was presented with the DSEF Circle of Honor Award in 2009—and currently serves as WFDSA Treasurer. Dick DeVos has served as Chairman of WFDSA.

The DeVos brothers will join Amway’s co-founders Richard DeVos and Jay Van Andel, who were inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1979 and 1987, respectively.

The Hall of Fame award, which has not been presented since 2009, was first presented in 1963. The award will be given to the DeVos brothers during the DSA’s 2012 Annual Meeting in Grapevine, Texas, June 3–5.


Stella & Dot Partners With Autism Speaks

Stella & Dot, a global fashion accessories brand and social selling company, has partnered with Autism Speaks, an international autism science and advocacy organization, in an effort to raise funds and awareness of autism through the sale of the signature Shine Bracelet. In recognition of Autism Awareness Month, the Stella & Dot Shine Bracelet was introduced at the beginning of April, providing 20 percent of every bracelet sold, while supplies last, to Autism Speaks.

Autism is a general term used to describe a group of complex developmental brain disorders—autism spectrum disorders—caused by a combination of genes and environmental influences. An estimated 1 in 110 children in the United States is on the autism spectrum.

In other news, the Stella & Dot Foundation recently visited the NASDAQ MarketSite in Times Square with their charity partners, ACCION USA, buildOn, and Girls Inc. The foundation has raised $500,000 to date through donations as well as all net proceeds from the Stella & Dot Foundation bracelets and charms.

In honor of the occasion, Jessica Herrin, CEO and Founder of Stella & Dot, rang the Closing Bell, along with top Stella & Dot stylists.

Tupperware Recognized by Fortune

Tupperware Brands Corp. was recognized as one of the “World’s Most Admired Companies” in the Home Equipment category of the annual ranking from Fortune. Tupperware was ranked second in the category, climbing the list from No. 6 in 2011 and surpassing industry competitors including Fortune Brands Home & Security, Electrolux and Stanley Black and Decker.

Tupperware was noted for the quality of its products and services, global competitiveness and financial soundness, ranking first within the industry in those categories.

Released annually, the Fortune World’s Most Admired Companies list is a ranking that reflects the observations and opinions of industry executives, directors and analysts on nine criteria, from investment value to social responsibility.

Tahitian Noni Receives Telly Award

Tahitian Noni International (TNI), now known as Morinda Bioactives, announced that its video work has been selected to receive a 2012 Telly Award. The Telly Awards honor the best local, regional and cable television commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions. The 33rd Annual Telly Awards received approximately 11,000 entries from all 50 states and five continents.

The Japanese Ad Campaign is a series of three 15-second TV spots produced internally by a multi-team collaboration between TNI’s U.S. corporate and Tokyo staff.

Tahitian Noni International, now known as Morinda Bioactives, is a global, research-driven bioactive products company that shares the health benefits of the noni plant—a bioactive-rich, adaptogenic plant containing iridoid compounds. Vector Marketing Corp. Forms Charity Foundation

Vector Marketing Corp., the direct sales division of Cutco Cutlery Corp., has formed the Vector Foundation, which will support causes that promote healthy living and enrich lives. From March 1, 2012, through Feb. 28, 2013, 10 percent of the price of Cutco Cutlery’s four-piece Red Table Knife Sets and Red Super Shears will be donated to the Vector Foundation for this purpose. The first charities that will benefit from the Vector Foundation are the Make-A-Wish Foundation® and Feeding America®. The Vector Foundation is committed to donating $100,000 to each of these organizations.
