Angela Cretu has been appointed Avon Products Inc.’s CEO to drive the next phase of the company’s transformation.
The appointment follows the recent transaction between Avon and Natura &Co to create the world’s fourth-largest pure-play beauty company.
Cretu will be responsible for business operations outside of Latin America and for the oversight of the Avon brand globally. She brings over 20 years of experience at Avon in various senior executive roles, most recently as group vice president and general manager, Central Europe, responsible for 19 countries. Before that she successfully led the Eastern Europe and Africa & Middle East clusters and has held several global roles. She has also been deeply involved in Avon’s drive for women’s economic empowerment.
“Avon is on a transformation journey, and I’m greatly looking forward to working with its talented teams to deliver the next era of growth, while also driving the international expansion of Natura and furthering our combined purposes of promoting economic empowerment for women around the world,” said Cretu. “Like our new family Natura &Co, we’re purpose-driven at heart, and together we will build best beauty company for the world.”
Cretu replaces Jan Zijderveld, who stepped down as chief executive officer concurrent with the closing of the sale of the company to Natura &Co. Zijderveld joined Avon in February 2018 after a 30-year career at Unilever NV/PLC and led the company through its Open Up strategy.
