Southwestern Family of Companies (SWFC) announced it will be spinning off a selection of its imprints to Capen Publishing Company. Since 1865, SWFC has been actively engaged in the publishing business, particularly cookbooks, but the company’s imprints Favorite Recipes Press, Quail Ridge Press, Beckon Books, Blue Sneaker Press, Greenwich Publishing, and Historic Hospitality Books will now be under the leadership of Chris Capen, who has served as president of Southwestern Publishing House since 2016.
Capen Publishing will now operate as Southwestern Publishing House under a licensing agreement with SWFC until the beginning of 2024, when a rebranding effort will take place. Southwestern Books will remain a SWFC imprint and will continue to expand its offerings, but with a focus on business, transformational sales, leadership and personal development.
“This is a very exciting time for our publishing team as we now become part of Capen Publishing Company,” Capen said. “Our unique publishing model is needed more than ever to serve our many publishing partners who are global content leaders in their respective fields. This change will also allow our talented group to continue to expand and grow.
