Young Living Essential Oils, as part of National Wellness Month, is taking steps to support employee mental health, including guided meditation sessions to give employees a sense of balance and calm and the creation of a Mindfulness Room to provide a place to rest, relax and renew during the workday.
Maintaining a healthy workplace balance is an important part of Young Living’s office culture and the new mindfulness room is expected to encourage employees to unplug for a few minutes and emerge more focused, creative and productive.
“Young Living is excited to provide our employees with this important mindfulness room resource,” said Ed Dailey, Young Living Director of Product Development. “Our company’s mission is to empower wellness, purpose, and abundance for communities around the world, and that starts right here in the office.”
The company is also encouraging others workplaces to follow suit, offering a step-by-step template for how to set up a mindfulness room that is effective in creating a calming environment that aids stress management for workers.
The key elements to this template include:
- Choosing an infrequently used room or space that can partitioned off for privacy and quiet.
- Selecting decorations, lighting and furniture that are soothing and not overly stimulating.
- Implementing a sound machine to design a peaceful background noise so that users can focus on their intentions.
- Prioritizing scent to prompt relaxation. Young Living prefers lavender, lemon and peppermint as options to soothe, uplift or invigorate.
“We sometimes can get overwhelmed during the workday, and that’s the perfect time to experience the mindfulness room,” Dailey said. “Young Living encourages other businesses to create similar spaces for employees to unwind. By supporting mental health and promoting self-care and stress management, you can honor your commitment to invest in your employees’ health and wellness.”
