Young Living has partnered with Utah scientists and Dr. Joseph Wilson, author of “The Bees in Your Backyard: A Guide to North America’s Bees” in a research initiative to discover more about native bee populations.
This research will begin in Utah, at Young Living’s farms, where Dr. Wilson will study native bee populations, nesting habitats and estimate plant and flower visitation rates. Data from this study will help Young Living diversify, protect and improve the lives of bee communities on its farm. A similar project will also take place at the company’s lavender farm in Simiane-la-Rotonde.
“We feel extremely passionate about this partnership with Dr. Wilson as we dive into this research on local native bee species,” said Deven Patten, Young Living Director of Sustainability. “Native bees are so important because they pollinate native plants, many of which can’t be pollinated by introduced bees. This research will be extremely useful as we dive in and begin to make our lavender farms a sanctuary for many different bee species, continuing Young Living’s commitment to serving our planet.”
